Rag & Bone Art was founded in 1994 by Ernie Netzband and was located at 6 Deblois Street. In 2006, Herk and Milly purchased the business and in 2007 moved it to 664 Thames.

Custom design framing has been the core service of the business. Our partner for frames is Larson/Juhl…one of the top frame suppliers in the world. No project is too small or too large. Mirrors, canvas works, photography, and mementos, are all within our capabilities. We are always adding new equipment and frames.

The overarching theme of our gallery is American Realism in the spirit of Edward Hopper, Winslow Homer, and James Carter. In addition we are constantly buying works from all over the world. African American artists, New England artists, local artists and photographers are all in the gallery.
More recently we have begun adding home furnishings produced by artists working in mediums such as wood, and lighting.

Herk (George Herchenroether) and Milly (Milly Jessen) live in Newport and are active in the city. Their commitment is foremost to the residents of Aquidneck Island and Jamestown.
The new location is being setup for casual browsing, personal design consultation and you can park right outside the front door.
